But once you place the order, the spot beginner sellers get most tangled up is "do I import this like an ordinary bicycle, or certify it like an electronic product?" A pedal-only bicycle is treated close to general goods, but the instant a motor and battery go on, it stacks up separate gates โ€” electrical safety, battery, dangerous-goods shipping โ€” layer upon layer. And even among "rideables," the combination of gates changes completely with the item. Air is especially strict on lithium batteries, with tough capacity, quantity, and packing requirements; sea has relatively more room but still needs dangerous-goods declaration and dedicated packing.

A decision you often run into in practice is whether to ship the battery installed in the body or separated and sent apart. Installed and separated shipping differ in dangerous-goods classification and packing requirements, and freight and lead time shift accordingly. So with an electric rideable, don't just look at the unit price โ€” reckon by landed cost including the battery-shipping method to see the real margin. Push this off as a back-end logistics problem and you buy the goods cheap but watch cost and time balloon in shipping, collapsing the margin. 7. Sourcing in Practice โ€” The Tianjin, Kunshan & Shenzhen Clusters and Sample Checks

Rideables are a category where problems surface in safety and in riding. It looks fine in photos, but ride it and the weak points show. Electric ones in particular have tighter inspection items because the battery and motor are involved. Confirm the following at the sample stage.
